Thanks to the awesome kids at the Hub… I got a pie in the face last night! The students were able to meet their goal for brining in towels, blankets and socks for the people at Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM). They are a local organization that helps people get back on their feet after homelessness and other life struggles.
While its not the best quality picture, you get the idea.
And let me tell you the Hub doesn’t go 1/2 way on anything. In an attempt to be “cheaper” they accidentally bought the good kind of whipping cream (like Land of Lakes Heavy Whipping Cream). I was pied first by a sweet girl Alyssa who (lucky for me) had never pied anyone before. Because of that, I didn’t get it smeared/shoved in my face, just a simple smash. The other guys weren’t so lucky. After an attempt to clean up and sort of wash my hair a little, I still reeked of heavy cream. The pie-ing occurred at the beginning of 633 (what we call our Wednesday night event-for Matt 6:33). When we got out at 8, Mike and I had a meeting with the youth pastor, then we went out to dinner with friends and got home around 10:15. By this point, all I could smell was heavy cream… nastiness.
I proceeded to shower (involving lots of soap)and tried my best to forget the smell. Even after I got in the sheets all clean, I still “smelled it”. So I sprayed with Mike’s cologne just to help. No such luck; still smelled it.
When I woke up this morning, I showered again… and still smelled it. I am currently sitting at my desk at work and even after a vein attempt to sniff the coffee grounds… yup, you guessed it, I still smell the cream.
I think at this point it’s just perceived smell but I can’t get it out!!! I know it will eventually go away. Unlike “having a snake in your dryer,” I can’t just buy another dryer to get rid of the smell. Humm… maybe some spicy food might help. I hear the other two guys are having the same problem as well =) At least I’m not alone in this.
I’m still glad I participated! Because, say it with me now…
Camp is for the Camper, not necessarily for the needs, convenience or enjoyment of the staff.
same goes for Hub leaders =)
The haunting of the whip cream smell... I can see a movie being made about that. I would definitely try spicy food, or garlic-flavored yumminess to try and diffuse the scent. Otherwise, walk around a bath and body works for an hour, and you'll be cured! :)
ReplyDeletePS. Sorry to hear about the hail damage, have you guys sorted that out yet?
