30 miles through the foothills of Maryville. on a bike.
At the start of the race, a lady was trying to clip in and was not successful and fell over on me. I was able to unclip in time to catch myself before I fell over. great start. Then we did lots of passing and got in a comfortable swing. About mile 12 my chain fell off (of course in the middle of a nice long HILL) so I had to stop and fix that. There was a much needed rest stop at mile 16 and we had nilla wafers w/ PB and orange slices. Then we went on and about mile 18 my chain locked up (just got stuck between two gears) so I had to stop and fix that, of course at almost the top of a killer hill! but again I was able to fix that and we finished out really strong.
Mike had a great race!
We finished in just under 2 hours and, while a little saddle sore, did really well! We averaged about a 15 minute mile and were really pleased with the success.
I'm so proud of you two! Way to be active advocates, and always try new things! Plus, you guys looked pretty spiffy in your biking gear, can't go wrong there.
ReplyDeleteI love that you're on a Trek. :-D What pedal system do you use? I'm a HUGE fan of the Speedplays.
ReplyDeleteThanks kelly! it was a lot of fun for sure, we try to get other people involved in being active for sure;
ReplyDeleteRA- I use the Look Keo something pedal system. They are really good, easy to clip in and out of =)not too long now for you! congrats!
